9 DAYS – DRUK PATH TREK
- Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by a representative of BTS Tours and transported to your comfortable hotel in Thimphu
- Explore the National Museum, Ta Dzong with artifacts dating back to 4000BC.
- Get a glimpse of the traditional architecture at the Rinpung Dzong popular known as Fortress on a heap of Jewels.
- Visit the ruins of historic Drugyel Dzong.
- Leisure in Town.
- Dinner at Hotel.
- Overnight at Paro.
- Early breakfast and drive towards the National Museum of Bhutan, above Paro from where you will start your trek.
- We will walk from the Museum heading up hill through apple orchards, smallholdings of Damchena village and pine forests.
- Visit Jele Dzong (3,490m), perched on a whaleback ridge which is mostly in ruins and there is a Lhakhang with the statute of Buddha Sakyamuni.
- The trek trail is a gradual climb to the camp and if the weather is clear the Paro valley can be seen with snowcapped mountains beyond and mount Jomolhari (7,314m) is breathtaking.
- Overnight camp at 3480m.
- Breakfast at the camp and begin with gradually ascent and then descend below the ridgeline to walk through the trail of thick alpine forests and rhododendrons. You may see yak herders in the area.
- Capture the fascinating views of Mt. Jhomolhari and other snow capped mountains and you can also hear some monal peasants during the day.
- We continue our up hill walk to reach a yak herders’ pasture at Jangchulakha (3,780m) with outstanding views of the Himalayan range.
- We camp for overnight in a yak pasture near the hillside.
- After breakfast, follow the trail along the ridge and at times through juniper trees and dwarf rhododendrons. Sensational views of the mountain valleys of Thimphu and Paro.
- After making an ascent and then a steep descent, we arrive at Jimilangtsho Lake (3,880m) famous for their giant sized trouts.
- Great views of Mt. Jichu Drake 6,989m, the peak representing the protective deity of Paro.
- Overnight camp close to Jimilangtsho Lake.
- After breakfast, hike on a gradual climb from Jimilangtso to Phajoding.
- On the way, you will cross the lake of Janetso to Simkota.
- Phajoding is at an altitude of 3500 meters. If weather permits, you will have a beautiful view of Mount Gangkhar Punsum 7554 meters, one of the highest mountains in the Himalayan Range.
- Overnight halt in camp at Phajoding.
- After breakfast, you will descend gradually to Thimphu through Motithang.
- The entire Thimphu City can be viewed from Phajoding.
- After few hours of descent, you will be received at Motithang and driven to the hotel for lunch.
- Lunch at local Restaurant
- Leisure and overnight at Thimphu.
- Breakfast at hotel and visit more exciting sites in Thimphu today.
- Join yourself with elderly people circumambulating the National Memorial Chorten, one of the most visible religious structures in Thimphu.
- Cherish the fascinating panoramic view of Thimphu City from Buddha Dordenma, one of the biggest sitting Statue of Buddha in the world.
- Visit Tashi Chhoe Dzong known as the “Fortress of the Glorious Religion”, the fortress houses the throne room and office of his majesty the King of Bhutan.
- Visit the Royal Takin Preserve and observe Bhutan’s National Animal Takin, the fascinating odd looking animal.
- Take a short hike to Wangditse Nature Trail and capture the admirable view of Thimphu Valley.
- Leisure in Thimphu City.
- Dinner at Hotel.
- Overnight at Thimphu.
- Breakfast at hotel, then drive to Paro Tiger’s Nest Base/ Parking Lot.
- Hike to the Tiger’s Nest, also known Taktsang Monastery perched 900 meters above the Paro Valley. This is the most spiritual place in Bhutan and popular pilgrimage site.
- Lunch at Taktsang Cafeteria.
- Leisure and Souvenir shopping at Paro Town.
- Experience the unique Bhutanese local way of wellness which combines the minerals of a hot stone bath with the healing khempa herb. Dinner at Local Farm House.
- Drive back to hotel and overnight at Paro.
- Breakfast at Hotel.
- Drive to Paro International Airport.
